The Advanced X-Ray Systems division is a newly established division as part of Vehant Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Its mission is to build a talent pool of expertise in India to establish a design house to create the next generation of Security Baggage Scanners with novel geometries. The organization has a clear and long term strategic vision for the division that revolves around establishing itself as a innovative player in the security scanning domain and is committed for sustainable strategic technology development to propel industry leading solutions with a vision of AtmaNirbhar Bharat – Make in India for the World.

We intend to create a very lean yet agile team of professionals to co-conceive and co-create the next generation of Advanced X-Ray Systems in the baggage screening sector of security screening applications. We are actively hiring for technical resources spanning a wide range of specialties connected to X-Ray/CT technology backgrounds including but not limited to Systems Engineering, Image Quality, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Firmware design, Software designs and architects, High-performance compute algorithm designers, and UI/UX designers. The overall activities would begin with conceptualization and culminating in engineering product design including DFX (Manufacturing/Service/Reliability). Technology development would encompass a wide array of domains spanning X-Ray physics, Model-Based Systems Engineering, Digital Twin designs, rapid prototyping, signal processing, image generation chain and experimental data analytics and research.

Role/Job Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Engineer (Mechanical), in Advanced X-Ray Systems division at Vehant Technologies in Bengaluru. The Senior Engineer (Mechanical) shall be responsible for designing and developing mechanical system architecture, leading gantry and system integration, and ensuring reliability and performance for baggage screening for security applications. The role would require expertise and experience in mechanical gantry design architecture, simulations and model- based systems design, and ability to design platformized and modular architecture that are designed to meet present requirements with extensibility to cater to future requirements. The role involves detailed assessment and finalization of requirements, DFX (requirements, reliability, performance, lifing, sourcing, manufacturing, servicing, prognostics), conceptualization and creation of design platforms using model-based systems engineering and overseeing the whole technical design process till production and post-market surveillance to ensure customer satisfaction. 

Qualifications and Desired Skills

• Master’s (with 8-12 years experience), or Ph.D (with 5-10 years experience) in Engineering, with a strong research mindset and adept in documentation of work
• CT Gantry Mechanical Architecture Design, Hardware and System Integration, and System Reliability skills
• Knowledge of working principles and safety with X-ray Systems is a must
• Experience with CT Systems design with full knowledge of hardware engineering, end-to-end know-how of design principles with impact on final systems performance and image quality
• Proficiency in mechanical design tools for CAD and simulations.
• Strong working knowledge of generating mechanical designs of gantry for given requirements.
• Good working know-how of thermal simulations and analysis
• Strong experimental knowledge of systems level testing and design verification including reliability, performance and vibration analysis
• Experience of working on suspended mass and high tonnage rotating systems with safety precautions.
• Sound knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, including design translation to rapid prototyping including additive and subtractive manufacturing techniques
• Ability to come up with design tolerances suitable to the requirements and manufacturing process limitations
• Ability to closely work with suppliers/fabricators to ensure the design translation to prototype meets requirements at the required quality
• Proficient in using measurement equipment to conduct experimental data gathering on mechanical design parameters from physical hardware systems
• Need to have the mindset to see beyond mechanical designs from an overall systems engineering perspective
• Knowledge of designing jigs, fixturesand gauges to ensure ease of assembly, alignment, calibration and servicing
• In depth knowledge on different drive systems via Link, Chain, Gear, screw, cam etc. and integration of electro-mechanical systems / assemblies
• Well conversant on calculation and selection of motor, gear boxes, couplings, bearing, belts, chains, springs… etc.
• Well conversant in working with FEA simulation softwares (viz. Ansys, LS-Dyna, NS Nastran…) for static as well as dynamic loading conditions
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Any design certifications like Six Sigma, Lean, TRIZ would be a significant plus
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Previous experience in CT R&D or product development with strong hands on experience on technical design journey from conceptualization to market launch is a must
• Must demonstrate willingness to constantly learn and adapt to growing needs of the domain with a growth mindset
• This is a senior design role and the candidate must possess and demonstrate an attitude to freely share knowledge and mentor others in the team with a clear understanding that team comes before self
• The role requires strong teamwork and the ability to manage, mentor and lead a team effectively to deliver to the assigned deliverable goals as a single cohesive unit
• Needs to be a strong team player capable of effectively working in a consensus mode across multiple design sub-system and systems teams.

Travel Note

This role while stationed in Bengaluru would entail travel to Vehant Technologies headquarters in Noida on a need basis. The travel percentage is indicative only and can be subjected to change based on organizational requirements.
